Collection of Information
If permitted by applicable law, we may collect the following information:
Information Provided by You. There are times when it is important for us to request information from you. Such requests may be part of registration, feedback, online surveys, contests, and/or order forms. Some of our forms request users to provide personal information that is required for us to process the user’s request. Occasionally, other information is also requested from the user to determine the demographics of ACI’s audience. For example, we might ask for Name, Company Name, Address, and E-mail Address. We collect, and may store, the personal information you provide to us.
Other Information. From time to time, we also collect, and may store, information from other sources, such as information validating your address, information based on your zip code or business, or information that we have based upon your relationship with us.
Information Sent to Us by Your Web Browser. We collect information that is sent to us automatically by your web browser. This information typically includes your Internet Protocol (IP) address, the identity of your internet service provider, the name and version of your operating system and browser, the date and time of your visit, the page that linked you to our Site, and the pages you visit while on our Site.
Use and Sharing of Personal Information
At no time will we sell, trade, rent or distribute Personal Information to any outside organization not specified herein. We reserve the right to use Personal Information for any legally permissible purpose in its sole discretion, including, but not limited to:
- providing products, information and services upon your request;
- providing you with effective customer service;
- improving the content, functionality, performance and usability of our Site;
- improving our marketing and promotional efforts;
- providing technical support and troubleshooting; and
- security, credit or fraud prevention purposes.

- Our Service Providers. We may share your Personal Information with companies or organizations, including subsidiaries, affiliates, agents, and other entities who provide services such as sales and distribution services, marketing services, website hosting, data analysis, payment processing, order fulfillment, product distribution, infrastructure provision, IT services, customer service, e-mail delivery services, credit card processing, auditing services, and other similar services.
- Business Transactions and Transfers. We may sell or transfer the Personal Information to third parties in connection with any merger, acquisition, reorganization, change in capital structure, sale, joint venture, assignment, transfer or other disposition of all or any portion of ACI’s business, assets or stock (including in connection with any bankruptcy or similar proceedings).
This Site may make message boards, forums, chat rooms, and/or news groups available to its users. Please understand that any information disclosed in these areas becomes public information. These areas shall be used in a noncommercial manner only. You agree not to publish or otherwise distribute any content containing a solicitation of funds, advertising, promotion, solicitation for goods or services, or other commercial matter. Except where expressly authorized by us, you agree not to store or collect data about other users on the Site.
Where the Information is Located
Our Site includes areas which require that you put in an user ID, a password and an e-mail address. We strongly recommend that you do not use your Social Security Number or any other important identification information as a user ID, password or screen name for our Site. Users should be reminded that any personally identifiable information that is voluntarily posted by a user to our Site may be collected and used by others and we cannot prevent such uses.
ACI is committed to protecting the privacy needs of children and does not target or collect personally identifiable information from users who we know are under 13. However, some areas of our Site may be attractive to children even though they are intended for older children and adults. We therefore encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in their children’s online activities.
In the event that we have knowledge that a child under the age of 13 has submitted any personal information to us via this Site, we may use the email address provided by the child for the sole purpose of responding to the child’s question or carrying out his or her request on a one-time-only basis. We will not use the email address provided by the child for any other purpose and we will delete it from our records. If we become aware that we have unknowingly collected personal information other than an email address from a child under the age of 13, we will delete the information immediately.
In the event that you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from your child, you can have such information deleted and refuse to allow further collection or use of such information. In the event that you believe we have collected personal information from your child, please contact us at the email address provided below and we will guide you through the necessary procedures.
We take commercially reasonable precautions to protect the confidentiality, integrity and security of your Personal Information. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the internet or data storage system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is not secure (for example, if you feel that the security of your account has been compromised), please immediately notify us of the problem by contacting us in accordance with the “Contact Us” section below. We urge users to be careful with personal information while using the internet.
Encryption. We have user ID protected areas to our Site that require a secure connection between your computer and our server be established. We will use an up to date encryption technology. A secure connection will be maintained until you leave the secure areas on our Site. However, perfect security does not exist on the internet and we can not guarantee the safety of transmitting personal information over the internet.
User ID Protection. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your user ID, password and screen name. We have the right to assume that anyone accessing our Site using a user ID, password or screen name assigned to you has the right to do so. You will be solely responsible for the activities of anyone accessing our Site using a user ID, password and screen name assigned to you, even if the individual is not, in fact authorized by you. If you have reason to believe that your user ID, password or screen name has been compromised or used without authorization, you must promptly change it using the functionality provided on our Site.

We may provide links to Internet sites maintained by others. We are not responsible for the contents of, or any products or services offered in, those third party websites. You should be aware when you are leaving our Site and be sure to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects personally identifiable information. Any links provided by us to any third party website are provided to you as a convenience only. You should not infer that we endorse or accept responsibility for these websites by the inclusion of any such links to those websites on the Site.
We are not responsible for the republishing of the content found on this Site and on other websites or media without our permission.
The User’s Choices
We respect your right to make choices about the ways we collect, use and disclose your Personal Information. In some cases, we will ask you to indicate your choices at the time we collect your Personal Information. If you receive email or marketing communications, you may “opt-out” of receiving e-mail and other communications from us at any time by using the unsubscribe feature included in the e-mails we send.
Your California Privacy Rights
Advanced Certification Institute LLC (“ACI”) collects various types of personal information about you during the course of your relationship with ACI as a customer. Under California law, if you are a resident of California, you may make a written request to ACI about how we have shared your information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes. In response to your written request, ACI is allowed to provide you with a notice describing the cost-free means to opt-out of our sharing your information with third parties with whom we do not share the same brand name, if the third party will use such information for its direct marketing purposes.
If you would like to exercise your rights under California law, please send your written request to the e-mail address or postal address below. Please include your postal address in your request. Within thirty (30) days of receiving your written request, ACI will provide you with a Third Party Direct Marketing Opt-Out Form so you may request that your personal information not be disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
